The Silence is a dynamic teenage rock band from California’s San Fernando Valley, known for delivering electrifying live performances and a sound rooted in classic rock. The band features Phoebe on vocals, Aidan on guitar, Eliana on keys, Jack on bass and Emilio on drums. What sets The Silence apart is not just their talent, but their chemistry. As close friends who began playing their instruments between the ages of 8 and 10, their connection translates into tight, energetic performances that feel both natural and powerful.
Since their first performance together on February 5, 2023, The Silence has quickly built momentum. In 2025, they won the Battle of the Bands at the Salute to Recreation Family Festival in Northridge, California—marking a major milestone in their journey.
They have performed at iconic and local venues including the Whisky a Go Go, Sagebrush Cantina, Lucky Strike Hollywood, The Arena, The Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood and various live music spots across Southern California.
With a growing catalog of original music and a passion for performing, The Silence continues to build a name for themselves as one of the most exciting young bands to watch.

"My name is Phoebe Shapiro and I have been the lead singer of The Silence for 5 years. I am 15 years old and I have been in vocal training for about 8 of those years. In addition to this, I play guitar and a little bit of piano. While working with The Silence, I have expanded my musical abilities, gained significant confidence, and learned new ways to express my creativity. One of the larger leadership roles I take in this band is an aid in deciding cover songs to play that ensure each member feels represented. The Silence has provided me with strong abilities, incredible experiences, and supportive friends, all in which I could not live without"

Aidan Varsam
"My name is Aidan Varsam. I’ve been playing guitar for 8 years, and I have been with The Silence for 5 years. I enjoy tinkering with my gear, along with finding a sound not just for me, but for the band through the music we write and play. During rehearsals, I have found myself taking initiative in mixing the mics and the keyboard so that our levels sound cohesive as we play. I have also gained a lot of confidence in myself through music along the years, and it has helped me to become who I am today"

"My name is Eliana Mercado and i’ve been with the silence for a little bit over 5 years! I’m 17 years old and i’ve been playing piano since I was 5. Along with piano, I also sing, play guitar, and ukulele. The musical and leadership skills that I have gained through The Silence has inspired me to explore other musical avenues by taking on leadership positions in my school choir and a cappella group. The Silence allowed me to not only express my musical ability, but also gain lifelong friends that I can’t imagine myself without"
